We have two series of talks this spring. After a gap for rest and resuscitation in January we are starting the new year with Writers at the White Horse, informal talks by writers in the skittle alley of the White Horse pub at Stonesfield. We are very grateful to John at the White Horse for letting us use the Barn. It is already used for
White Horse Live, monthly concerts featuring local and visiting musicians - it has a lovely atmosphere and a bar, so you can arrive early, have a drink and meet other people in the area who belong to book groups or enjoy reading.
Writers at the White Horse opened last year with a talk by Barbara Trapido about her work (it was a conversation, but I didn't say much!) - we started again with screenwriter and novelist Mark Mills on Tuesday 4th February. Mark writes literary thrillers, novels that keep you up half the night because you just have to turn one more page...
The following week, on Tuesday 11 February, Oxford author Robert Lipscombe spoke about his
remarkable new novel
The English Project, a novel printed as a
beautifully illustrated newspaper in 144 lightweight tabloid pages.
